Research Projects

Single Nucleotide Gene Targeting

Single nucleotide gene targeting can be used to both correct and induce mutations within genes.  The therapeutic or experimental possibilities of this technique would be maximized by inducing these alterations within embryonic stem cells.  This technique has traditionally proven difficult.  I am currently focused on ways of improving the practicality and efficiency of these techniques.  We are working towards boosting the efficacy of this procedure up to the point where therapy development would be feasible.
