Research Projects

The main focus of my research has been to understand the complex interactions that thrombus development has with local hemodynamic forces and biological stimuli.  In order to study these interactions I designed a novel microfluidic device capable of independently controlling the wall shear stress and transthrombus pressure gradient, two physical parameters critical for thrombus development.  This device has facilitated investigations such as platelet and platelet/fibrin clot permeability, intra-clot thrombin localization, and mechanisms involved in thrombus contraction.
