  • Energy Conversion and Combustion
    Fundamental aspects of oil and pulverized coal combustion; reduction of pollutants, solar thermal energy conversion, solar detoxification of hazardous wastes,  advanced power cycles, use of liquified natural gas coldness in power generation, thermodynamics: second-law (exergy) analysis focusaing on chemical and nuclear reactions.
    Power generation in space for terrestrial use. Quantitative sustainable energy development.

    Fundamental phenomena of evaporation, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics associated with flash evaporation; multi-stage flash desalination processes, membrane distillation, advanced combined water desalination and power generation systems. Sustainable water desalination.
